Our "speciality" is in roofing with copper, metal, slate,
tile and cedar shake materials. We excel in decorative, custom made copper
gutters, downspouts, bay windows, etc. and fabricate all of these in house.
Our commercial market is similar to our residential market except naturally
on a larger scale. We have completed projects of donation like assisting in the
slate roof removal and replacement on the Pentagon after the 911 attack and the
POW Chapel at Camp Atterbury in Edinburg, Indiana to the the other end of the
scale at:
- DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana
- Crooked Stick Golf Course Clubhouse in Carmel, Indiana in
preparation of the 2005 Solheim Cup
- Village Plaza in Indianapolis, Indiana
- Knauff Fiberglass, Shelbyville, Indiana
- Target Center, Anderson, Indiana
Customer satisfaction is our major focal point. We take great pride in
the work we do, and the response of referrals from our satisfied customers has
shown this. We are very fortunate, as a result of the good relationships we
have with our customers, that more than 99% of our new business comes directly
from referrals.
Although we are a very small company in comparison to many that are out
there, we feel that the advantage is ours since we are able to keep tight
controls on issues such as Quality and Safety for our customers and valuable
employees.
Our Mission Statement Is to insure that all of
our customers are educated to the best of our ability about the importance of
using trained personnel to do the work they are hired to do.
Making them understand that the cheap price quite often leads to "you
get what you pay for". The consequences when a major investment such as a
new roof goes wrong and what it can cost them. We will unfortunately never be
able to complete work based on a price of what someone else says we should do
the work for.
And last but not least, always try and leave our customers with the
feeling that they received more than they had paid for.
History In
1979, Chris Underwood and a partner formed a small construction business in
Indianapolis, Indiana. After a brief time together each partner found they had
different talents in the construction field. Chris was more partial to the
roofing installation of slate, tile, wood, and copper and proceeded on his own
to build the company we have today.
Formation Roofing and Sheet Metal, Inc. was incorporated in June of 1991 by
Chris Underwood, Owner and President. Once a small business run from a small
home on the east side of Indianapolis, Formation Roofing and Sheet Metal, Inc
grew and purchased the facility located at 2712 Stanley Ave., Indianapolis,
Indiana in 1993. The new facility provides a 10,000+ square foot sheet metal
shop, an office, and over two acres of yard for storing reclaimed slate, tile
and the equipment used for daily operation.
